International Coastal Clean Up – Saturday, 9/17 at 8 am – Merritt Island NWR and sponsor Keep Brevard Beautiful are hosting a cleanup at Haulover Canal. Participants will pick up trash and collect important data on the types of debris. Afterwards, hotdogs and soda will be served to participants. Bags, latex gloves and bottled water will be provided. North American Migration Count Bird Driving Tour – Saturday, 9/17 at 9 am – Join a volunteer for a driving tour in the Refuge bus and learn how to identify birds while collecting data for the count. Call 321-861-5601 for reservations.

National Public Lands Day – Saturday, 9/24 at 9 am – Celebrate your National Public Lands by helping trim, clear and clean up the Refuge hiking trails & public areas. Migratory Songbird Walk – Saturday, 9/24 at 9 am – Take a guided tour of Oak Hammock Trail in search of migrant songbirds. Call 321-861-5601 for reservations.

All About Manatees – Thursday, 9/22 at 1 pm and Saturday, 9/24 at 1 pm – Learn all about manatees with Refuge Volunteers during a photo presentation and hands on manatee artifacts and a field trip to the Manatee Observation Deck. Call 321-861-5601 for reservations.

North American Butterfly Association (NABA) Butterfly Count – Sunday, 9/25 at 8:30 am – Volunteers & refuge staff will participate in a survey to identify species of butterflies in several habitats and the results will be sent to the NABA national database.
