Brevard Water Color Society Exhibit —November 5 through January 31-Artwork will be on display and for sale in the auditorium at the Visitor Center during regular business hours.
December Beginning Bird Tours - Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays at 9 am except 12/25-A Fee of $3.00 per person, MIWA members & children under age 16 are free. Cash or check accepted! Join a Refuge volunteer for a guided three hour driving tour in the Refuge van to learn how to identify many species of birds. Call 321-861-5601 reservations.
Eagle Watch along Black Point Drive from 2 pm - 4 pm on Saturdays, 12/4, 12/11, & 12/18-A Refuge volunteer will be stationed along Black Point Wildlife Drive between Signs 11 & 12. A spotting scope will be available for viewing the eagle’s nest. Reservations are NOT required, just drive to the site at Black Point Drive.
All about Alligators—Saturday, December 4 at 1 pm -Learn all about alligators through a photo presentation and hands on alligator artifacts. Call 321-861-5601 reservations.
All about Manatees–Saturday, December 11 at 1 pm- Learn all about manatees with Refuge Volunteers during a photo presentation and hands on manatee artifacts.
Butterfly Survey—Sunday, December 12 at 9:30 am- Volunteers & refuge staff will participate in a survey to identify species of butterflies in several habitats for the Butterfly Monitoring Network. Bring water, snack and insect repellant. Call 321-861-5601 reservations.
Hawk Identification Presentation & Tour—Sunday, December 12 at 1 pm—View a photo presentation to get tips on identifying hawks in the field, followed by a driving tour to view refuge raptors. Call 321-861-5601.
Roseate Spoonbill Presentation-Thursday, December 16 at 1 pm Learn about the natural history of the beautiful and unusual bird through a narrated photo presentation. Call 321-861-5601 for information and to make reservations.
Oyster Mat Making—Saturday, December 18 at 10 am Volunteer to make a oyster mat to help restore the oyster reefs in the Mosquito Lagoon. Child ages 11 & older accompanied by an adult are invited. Call 321-861-5601.
Manatees for Kids—Nature reading and Craft Program—Saturday, December 18 at 1 pm Children ages 5 and older accompanied by an adult are welcome to participate. Children will listen to a nature story, make a craft and join in other activities. Call 321-861-5601 for reservations.
Waterfowl Hunt- Hunting occurs in most areas of the Refuge from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 12 pm on Wed. Sat. Sun. & Holidays. No hunting is allowed along Black Point Wildlife Drive. See Refuge Hunt Brochure for information. Waterfowl Hunt Dates: December 2010: 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 22, 25, 26, 29
