Celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 12 to October 18, at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. This annual event celebrates the Refuge System's pivotal role in offering visitors outdoor recreational opportunities as well as showcasing the conservation and recovery of wildlife species on Refuges across the country. All programs are Free.
Wednesday, October 15:
Oyster Mat Making Restoration Workshops (Reservations required):
Session 1: 10 am to 12 pm
Session 2: 1 pm to 2 pm
Saturday, October 18:
Scrub Jay Presentation & Tour at 9 am (Reservations required)
Snakes Alive Presentation at 10:30 am (Reservations required)
Kids Craft Program - Make a bird feeder - 10:30 to 12:30 pm
Live Hawk Exhibit from 10:30 to 1:30
Climb aboard the Refuge’s Fire Engine for a photo Op. & meet the Fire Crew - 10:30 to 12:30
All about Birds for Kids at 12 pm - Learn about birds and bird watching and make a nature craft. (Children ages 6 years of age and older accompanied by an adult - Reservations required.)
Live Snake Exhibit from 12:30 to 2:30 pm
Manatee Presentation at 1 pm (Reservations required)
Manatee Watch at Observation Deck- 2 pm to 4 pm
Kids Craft Table - 1 pm to 2:30 pm
