Brevard Watercolor Society
Through the beauty of art, the Brevard Water Color Society (BWS) has been supporting MIWA and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge since 2002.
Each year BWS artist present a collection of works that are created from images taken at the MINWR while on a special tour of the refuge which allows them to take photograph reference material for their paintings. The paintings are juried by a selection of local artist and FWS staff and MIWA hosts an art reception and awards presentation at the MINWR Visitor Center that showcases the many talented and award winning artists that are among the 200+ members of the BWS.
The original watercolor paintings of native wildlife, flora and fauna from the refuge are put on exhibit in the Visitor Center auditorium through the winter season and are offered for sale with a portion of the proceeds donated by the artists to MIWA. Matted prints of some of the paintings are also offered for sale in the Bookery.
The BWS event is one of our favorite events and we look forward to it each year! For more information on the event please contact the MIWA office at 321-861-2377 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
